Ali Oumarou, the billionaire owner of the Kiza Lounge in Nairobi's Kilimani Area, was deported to Nigeria on September 6, 2019, amidst allegations of being linked to international crime.

According to Nation Media, Oumarou, who had been in Kenya since 2014, was flown back to his home country after it was discovered that he was operating with an expired work permit and was part of an international gang.

Wangui Michiri, a spokesperson from the Interior Ministry, confirmed that Oumarou's deportation was due to his involvement in international crime, but did not confirm whether the government would seize his properties.

Interior CS Fred Matiang'i and his counterparts stated that the government would support investors doing business in Kenya, as long as they operated within the confines of the law.
