Kenya Commercial Bank (KCB) are on the cusp of claiming the 2019 Stanbic Bank National Sevens Series title, needing only a fifth-place finish at the Driftwood Sevens to secure the Kenya title.
With a 10-point lead in the series standings, KCB have been in a prime position to recapture the Kenya title they last won in 2014.
Their recent Christie Sevens triumph, where they beat Nakuru 12-7 in the final, marked a season hat-trick of titles for the bankers.
They had previously lifted the inaugural Kakamega Sevens title by edging out Homeboyz 21-12 and won the Dala Sevens crown after beating Menengai Oilers 30-5 in the final.
However, Mwamba and defending champions Homeboyz still have an outside chance of winning the Series this season, but would need to win the Driftwood Sevens and hope KCB doesn't finish above fifth place.
As KCB head coach Dennis 'Ironman' Mwanja noted, 'We are not going for mathematics here since I have the experience to win the fourth title of the season to recapture the Series title.'
