On September 6, 2019, South African personality and dancer Zodwa Wabantu found herself at the center of a heated debate over her anti-xenophobia remarks.

She took to social media to express her outrage over the xenophobic attacks that had erupted across Mzansi, South Africa, stating that South Africans were lazy and taking from people who were trying to make ends meet.

"Our sisters and brothers are lazy. They are taking from people who are really doing something about their lives," she wrote on Instagram.

Her sentiments did not sit well with some South Africans, who called her out for meddling in matters she knew nothing about and told her to stick to dancing.

However, others praised her bold stance against hate and rising xenophobic attacks in the country.

"Zodwa I love u cause u are genuine, not fake, you are the only SA celebrity who has made a live about this, May the Almighty continue to bless you... Peace," one user commented.
