On September 6, 2019, Senior Principal Magistrate Martha Mutuku gave the prosecution in the Sh41 billion tax evasion case against tycoon Humphrey Kariuki an extension to supply witness statements and exhibits.

State prosecutor Vincent Monda requested the extra time, stating that eight statements and exhibits had already been supplied to the accused.

Defence lawyers Kioko Kilukumi and Cecil Miller confirmed that they had received some of the statements.

The case is set to be mentioned on September 26 for further directions, with the prosecution required to supply the remaining statements by September 20.

Humphrey Kariuki and nine other directors of Africa Spirits Limited and Wow Beverages are charged with tax evasion.
