On a fateful day in September 2019, a driver's heroic act saved hundreds of lives in Thika, Kenya. James Mugo, a driver, deliberately steered a burning oil tanker away from a market in the area, putting his own life at risk.

According to eyewitnesses, the oil tanker caught fire at a fuel depot in the Wika South area. Mugo, who was driving the tanker, quickly realized the gravity of the situation and took swift action to save lives.

"I managed to steer the tanker away from the market and nearby homes before it exploded," Mugo said in an interview with Standard newspaper.
