Kenya's Harambee Stars will face Uganda in an international friendly at the Moi Sports Centre Kasarani this weekend, with Michael Olunga leading the team as captain.

Olunga takes over the armband from Victor Wanyama, who is currently in London finalizing a move from Tottenham. Wanyama was given a break by coach Francis Kimanzi, who is looking at other options for the team.

Coach Kimanzi has entrusted Olunga, one of the most experienced players in the young squad, to lead the team in his first game in charge.

Elsewhere, forward Jesse Were has expressed his motivation to perform better for Harambee Stars after being left out of the Africa Cup of Nations team earlier this year.

Were was one of the major exclusions from the team when former coach Sebastien Migne named his squad for the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt. He hopes to prove his doubters wrong and make a mark for the national team now that he is back in the team.
