The Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) has secured court approval to freeze Sh2 billion in assets linked to former Kiambu Governor Ferdinard Waititu, including 18 high-value properties and seven luxury vehicles.
The High Court's order prohibits Waititu, his wife Susan Ndungú, and related companies from disposing of or transferring the assets, which include residences in Runda, Lakisama, and Migaa Estate, as well as land parcels in Embakasi Ranching and Kayole. The seven vehicles, valued at Sh24.4 million, join bank accounts under seizure.
Justice Esther Maina's ruling on Thursday explicitly barred any attempts to sell, charge, or otherwise interfere with the properties until the ongoing corruption case concludes. The EACC initiated legal action in May 2022, alleging the assets were amassed through illicit means disproportionate to Waititu's legitimate income.
Waititu faced impeachment in 2020 over abuse of office allegations and has long been entangled in corruption investigations. A 2019 case involving Sh588 million in disputed road contracts led to his appearance before a magistrate, where he and associates denied the charges.
