The International Air Transport Association (IATA) will host the Regional Aviation Forum in Nairobi on September 17th, an event that comes at an interesting time for the aviation space in Kenya.

Kenya Airways will host the event, which will focus on the theme 'Aviation Connecting and Enriching Africa', a topic that is particularly relevant given the recent proposals for the nationalization of the national carrier.

According to IATA, Africa is set to become one of the fastest growing aviation regions over the next 20 years, with the industry set to expand by nearly 5% annually.

Among the key topics for discussion at the forum will be realizing the value of Aviation and its impact on Economies, mapping out strategies for the Single African Air Transport Market (SAATM), and nurturing growth through digitization, infrastructure & standards, new trends in-flight safety & operations.

"Africa is set to become one of the fastest growing aviation regions over the next 20 years, with the industry set to expand by nearly 5% annually. This creates significant opportunities for aviation to fuel sustainable economic growth, and social development…" said Muhammad Ali Albakri, IATA's Regional Vice President for Africa and the Middle East.
