Enko Education, an African international school network, has completed a $5.8 million Series B funding round led by Adiwale Partners, with additional backing from Steyn Capital, Proparco, Investisseurs et Partenaires, Liquid Africa, and education sector figures across the continent.
The group’s approach combines individualized university admissions support, the International Baccalaureate curriculum, and an African-focused educational model. With 13 schools in nine sub-Saharan African countries, Enko serves over 3,500 students and aims to reach 10,000 by 2025. The funding will support expansion through acquisitions and school management contracts, according to co-founder Cyrille Nkontchou.
Eric Pignot, founder and CEO, emphasized that Enko is the first African network to offer the International Baccalaureate programme. Jean-Marc Savi de Tové of Adiwale Partners highlighted the investment’s role in improving infrastructure, teacher training, and access to global universities. The group’s 2030 goal includes preparing 750 million African youth for higher education as the continent’s school-age population grows.
Since launching its first school in Yaoundé in 2014, Enko has developed a model allowing school operators to partner with the network for international curriculum implementation. Graduates have enrolled in institutions like Yale, Sciences Po, and the African Leadership University, demonstrating the network’s academic impact.
