KCB Bank has received the 'Best Bank in Sustainable Finance in Kenya 2022' award from Global Finance, acknowledging its role in advancing eco-conscious business practices through community-focused initiatives.

The recognition highlights institutions driving climate action by funding projects that reduce carbon emissions, enhance resilience, and support long-term environmental sustainability, aligning with global efforts to limit temperature rise.

The accolade coincides with international targets to cut human-caused CO₂ emissions by 45% from 2010 levels by 2030 and achieve net-zero emissions around 2050, as outlined by the UN Sustainable Development Goals.

KCB Group CEO Paul Russo emphasized the bank's commitment to balancing profitability with social responsibility, stating, "Our focus extends beyond financial gains to empower customers and communities through sustainable industry transformation." The institution aims to allocate 25% of its loan portfolio to green investments by 2025 as part of its net-zero strategy.

Global Finance Publisher Joseph Giarraputo noted that pandemic-driven disruptions and energy sector challenges have intensified climate risk awareness, while technological advancements offer innovative solutions for sustainable development.

In 2021, KCB received multiple international awards for sustainability, including Best Sustainable Bank in Kenya from International Business Magazine and Most Valuable Banking Brand honors from Brand Finance and Finance Derivative.
