On September 6, 2019, the inaugural Soar Africa leadership and Entrepreneurship Summit took place at the Kasarani Indoor Arena in Nairobi, featuring a fireside chat with American televangelist Thomas Dexter Jakes Senior.

Just over a month prior, it was announced that VVIP tickets for the exclusive dinner with Bishop TD Jakes would cost Sh75,000, sparking controversy among some Kenyans who deemed the price too expensive.

However, a section of wealthy Kenyans has splashed the cash, with all VVIP tickets sold out. VIP tickets are still available for Sh50,000, while those without VVIP or VIP status will pay Sh25,000.

Bishop TD Jakes was joined by keynote speakers Econet Group Chairman Strive Masiyiwa and Head of Facebook Africa Nunu Ntshingilia at the summit.

At a press briefing held at Kempinski Hotel, Nairobi, TD Jakes expressed his delight at returning to Kenya for the second time in over 10 years.

"I love this country and its people. It is wonderful to be back," TD Jakes said.

He also shared his entrepreneurial journey, noting that he was first the CEO of TD Jakes Enterprises before becoming a pastor of the Potter's House.

"As a CEO of TD Jakes Enterprise, I understand the importance of business, how to do it and how to survive best so as to enhance our lifestyles beyond spirituality," he said.
