KCB Women's Volleyball Team secured a spot in the Africa Club Championships final by defeating Kenya Pipeline 3-0 (25-15, 25-23, 25-12) during the semifinals in Kelibia, Tunisia, on Monday.
The victory sets up a final clash against the winner of the Egypt-Tunisia semifinal, with KCB aiming to claim their first continental title since 2013. The bankers will face either Al Ahly of Egypt or Carthage of Tunisia in the championship match.
The semifinal featured a tightly contested first set before KCB established control through strong performances by Sharon Chepchumba, Mercy Moim, and Emmaculate Nekesa. Pipeline's absence of starting setter Rose Magoi, who sustained a knee injury against Al Ahly, weakened their attack as Telespory Alouch and Triza Atuka struggled to compensate.
In the second set, Pipeline's Gladys Ekiru suffered an injury following a collision with KCB captain Edith Wisa, disrupting their momentum. Despite a late rally to tie at 22-22, KCB closed out the set 25-23 to take a 2-0 lead.
KCB maintained dominance in the third set, extending their advantage to 23-9 before sealing the match 25-12. The victory marked their first continental final appearance since 2013, when Kenya Prisons last won the title in Madagascar.
Meanwhile, Kenya Prisons finished fifth after a 3-0 defeat to Rwanda Patriotic Army, while Cameroon's FAP secured seventh place with a 3-0 win over Tunisia's Kelibia.
Prisons team manager David Kilundo acknowledged the team's efforts, stating, "The players gave a good fight, but it's unfortunate that our best was not good enough. I'm glad we picked ourselves up and finished fifth. Our focus now turns to the league."
