Robert Lewandowski confirmed Monday that his tenure with Bayern Munich has concluded, signaling potential movement to Barcelona amid ongoing transfer speculation.
The Polish forward told reporters in Warsaw, "Today it is certain that my story with Bayern has come to an end." He expressed uncertainty about continuing with the club following recent tensions, stating, "I can't imagine further cooperation after what has happened over the last few months."
Barcelona have reportedly submitted a 32 million euro offer for Lewandowski, who has one year remaining on his contract. The striker hinted at his interest in Spain, mentioning, "I think it's a really good place—not just to go on holiday there," and noting his property in Mallorca.
Bayer Munich's leadership remains firm on retaining the player. CEO Oliver Khan and sporting director Hasan Salihamidzic reiterated the club's stance that Lewandowski will not depart before 2023. His agent, Pini Zahavi, criticized Bayern's position, arguing, "They can keep Robert for another year, but I wouldn't recommend that to them."
Zahavi emphasized that the dispute centers on respect rather than financial incentives, stating, "He has felt disrespected by those in charge for months." He urged Bayern to reconsider, noting, "Robert the person" has been affected by the situation.
Lewandowski, a two-time FIFA Best Men's Player, has won eight Bundesliga titles with Bayern since joining in 2014, plus two with Borussia Dortmund. He secured the Champions League with Bayern in 2020 and topped the Bundesliga scoring chart for five consecutive seasons.
Bayer Munich also announced the departure of Corentin Tolisso, whose contract expired after five years with the club.
