AFC Leopards, a Football Kenya Federation Premier League club, has appointed the Centre for Multi-Party Democracy (CMD) to oversee its upcoming elections scheduled for late June 2022. The decision follows the expiration of the current executive's term, allowing for a structured transition of leadership.
The club's National Executive Committee confirmed in a May 30, 2022, statement that CMD would establish rules and guidelines for the electoral process. 'This provides an ideal opportunity to undertake meaningful elections in accordance with the Sports Act,' the statement said.
Key positions in contention include chairman, where current leader Dan Shikanda seeks re-election, and treasurer, where Maurice Chichi faces challenges from Oliver Napali. The secretary role will see competition among Robert Situma, Tony Omusina, and Gilbert Andugu. The club's recent 2-0 victory over Kakamega Homeboyz in December 2021 boosted its league standing to 45 points.
