The East African Breweries Plc (EABL) has launched a KSh1 billion innovation hub in Ruaraka, Nairobi, as part of its centenary commemorations. The facility, adjacent to the historic Tusker brewery, will feature a microbrewery, tasting rooms, taproom, and flagship store, with an anticipated public opening by December 2022.
Established in 1922, EABL's investment aligns with its year-long celebration of the 100th anniversary of the Tusker brand. Group CEO Jane Karuku emphasized the project's role in shaping the region's beverage landscape, targeting millennials, tourists, and beer enthusiasts through immersive experiences.
The hub will showcase EABL's century-long heritage while fostering brewing innovation. It includes brewing facilities, a sensory-guided tasting room, a taproom with dining options, and a store featuring locally designed merchandise. Karuku stated the facility aims to become a premier tourist attraction in East Africa.
In 2021, Karuku was recognized on the definitive list of African women CEOs. The Ruaraka project underscores EABL's commitment to Kenya's long-term growth and brand legacy.
