Weather-Driven Strategy Shaped Outcome ¶
A pre-race downpour pushed the start back by an hour, forcing all drivers to begin on full-wet tires. Charles Leclerc started on pole for Ferrari, with teammate Carlos Sainz alongside him. Red Bull's Max Verstappen and Perez followed in third and fourth positions.
Perez executed the first pit stop on lap 16, switching to intermediate tires as the track dried. This move allowed him to overtake Leclerc, who pitted two laps later. Sainz opted to stay out on slicks, a decision that backfired when Ferrari initiated a double pit stop on lap 21, costing Leclerc valuable time.
Red Flag Interrupts Final Stages ¶
The race was halted on lap 30 after Mick Schumacher's crash at the Swimming Pool, leaving debris on the circuit. When action resumed, Perez maintained his lead despite pressure from Sainz, with the tight Monaco layout preventing overtaking.
