Deputy President William Ruto has relocated campaign operations from his Karen residence to UDA headquarters, according to insiders, as he seeks to avoid allegations of misusing state resources during the official campaign period.
The move follows Ruto’s decision to cease political activities at his 10-acre Karen estate, which has served as a political hub since 2015. Campaign planning now centers on UDA offices in Lavington and Ngong Road, where the Hustler presidential campaign headquarters is being established.
Political allies revealed Ruto’s strategy to focus on the Mt Kenya region, home to 4.5 million voters, aiming to secure over 80% of the vote share. An insider stated, "We have the messaging and wherewithal to achieve that," while Kiharu lawmaker Ndindi Nyoro emphasized efforts to "lock in" 90% of the region’s electorate.
Nyoro added, "We have been on the ground for some time now, and we will continue to camp in the region and sell our message of hope to the people, who have been neglected by one of their own." The deputy president is also planning increased outreach in the Western and Coastal regions.
