Formula One driver Charles Leclerc expressed frustration with Ferrari's performance during the Monaco Grand Prix, attributing his fourth-place finish to critical strategic miscalculations and communication breakdowns within the team.

The Monegasque driver, who started from pole position, lost a commanding lead after a controversial pit-stop decision that disrupted his race rhythm. Ferrari's attempt to switch to dry tires during fluctuating weather conditions led to a series of errors, including conflicting instructions that left Leclerc confused on the track.

"We got undercut and then stuck behind Carlos," Leclerc said, referencing his teammate Carlos Sainz. "There were a lot of mistakes and we cannot afford to do that. We need to take opportunities." He emphasized that the initial decision to bring him into the pits was flawed, triggering a cascade of errors that ultimately cost him a potential victory.

Sergio Perez secured his first win of the 2022 season for Red Bull, with Max Verstappen finishing third. Verstappen, a two-time Monaco GP winner, claimed his third career victory, including triumphs in the 2020 Sakhir Grand Prix and 2021 Baku race.

Ferrari team principal Mattia Binotto acknowledged the team's shortcomings, stating, "We underestimated the pace of the intermediate tyres and should have left him out longer." He admitted to multiple errors, including releasing drivers into challenging track positions, and vowed to analyze the issues thoroughly.

Sainz, who finished second for Ferrari, also expressed disappointment, noting that a slow lapped car during his pit stop cost him a chance at victory. "In this sport, it costs you," he said, acknowledging the unforgiving nature of Formula One competition.
