Published on September 6, 2019, a growing body of evidence highlights the importance of contraceptives in promoting reproductive health among young people.

Despite the myths surrounding contraceptives, which claim that their use makes people vulnerable to sexually transmitted diseases (STDs), the reality is that a lack of information and insecurity about the commodity are the main culprits.

Contraceptives offer a range of benefits, including reducing pregnancy-related morbidity and mortality, lowering the risk of certain reproductive cancers, and treating menstrual-related symptoms and disorders.

According to analysis, the use of contraceptives among married women has increased from 53% in 2014 to 61% in 2018, marking a significant milestone in fertility rates among young people.

World Contraception Day, celebrated on September 26th every year, aims to raise awareness about the importance of contraceptives in promoting reproductive health.

Given the numerous benefits of contraceptives, it is essential for the state to implement policies that improve the quality of reproductive health among young people.
