Published on September 6, 2019, President Uhuru Kenyatta emphasized the government's dedication to ensuring Kenya's food security during the Mombasa Agricultural Show.

With a budget of Sh48.5 billion allocated for the agricultural sector in the current financial year, the President noted that rejuvenating the sector was a priority in achieving the goal of food security.

“We need to do more to ensure that no Kenyan suffers from lack of food,” the President said, highlighting the importance of increasing food production.

He challenged the youth to participate in agricultural activities, stating that they had a crucial role to play in enhancing food production through irrigation and supporting the national food reserve.

President Kenyatta also urged county governments to adopt the government's strategy of increasing food production and supporting manufacturing to boost the economy.

The Mombasa Agricultural Show, held at Mkomani Grounds, attracted 190 exhibitors showcasing technologies in agriculture, manufacturing, transport logistics, and trade.
