On September 6, 2019, a 75-year-old man, David Nderi Kamau, appeared in a Thika court facing five counts of fraud and forgery.

According to court documents, Kamau presented a forged document to the Thika Land Registry claiming ownership of a one-acre piece of land in Juja, parcel number Ruiru/Ruiru EAST BLOCK 2/2478.

The document bore a fake signature belonging to Frida Wanjiru Karanja.

Kamau denied the charges, and his lawyer pleaded for lenient bond terms, stating that he was not a flight risk.

“The accused is a person who is 75 years old and a family man. He is not a flight risk,” Kamau's lawyer said.

David Nderi Kamau was released on a Sh300,000 bond or a cash bail of Sh100,000.

The case will be mentioned on September 18.
