On Thursday, a 16-year-old girl was arrested in Rarieda, Siaya County, for allegedly failing to report to school and instead cohabiting with a boda boda rider.

According to Assistant Chief Edwin Juma, the girl was spotted in the man's house at Wich-Lum Beach in Bondo by neighbours who alerted police on the day schools re-opened for Third Term.

Police stormed the house but the boda boda operator, identified as Kevin Ochieng', had already fled. The girl was reportedly missing just a day before schools re-opened.

She was handed over to police in Asembo Bay, where her parents reside, and a hunt is underway for the boda boda rider.

Assistant Chief Juma warned local residents against taking advantage of young school girls.
