Located on the shores of Lake Victoria, the Lake Victoria Serena Golf Resort and Spa is a championship golf course that has been hosting the Uganda Open Golf Championship since August 27, 2019.

Designed by skilled architects, the 18-hole par-72 course takes full advantage of its picturesque surroundings, featuring hazards on every hole and offering breathtaking views from the first to the last hole.

The course's clubhouse is situated on the water's edge, and the marina next to it allows golfers to sail their boats to the clubhouse from nearby locations such as Mwanza, Kisumu, or Migingo Island.

The Uganda Open is a unique tournament that includes junior, ladies, amateur, and professional contests, making it a three-week golf extravaganza that is a goldmine for sports news and sponsorship.

On August 27, the Junior Open kicked off, followed by the Ladies Open on August 29, and the Amateur Open on September 3. The Professionals will compete from September 5-8, with a total prize of $50,000 and a winner's prize of $11,250 (UGSh40 million).

Among the junior contestants, Acio Florence, Massette Winnie, Ngabire Victoria, Birabwa Friesta, and Nambooze Milly were the top five girls, while Eyoyo Rogers, Bwambale Amon, Nsubuga Godfrey, Akena Reagan, and Agotre Hassan were the top five boys.

The junior contest at the Uganda Open is a crucial category, representing the future of golf in East Africa. The tournament has been producing a steady stream of ambitious, determined, and motivated young golfers who will one day rule the golf scene in Africa and beyond.

One such golfer is 16-year-old Eyoyo Rogers, a scratch golfer and member of the Mehta Golf Club, who showed great skill on the challenging Serena course, carding seven birdies through his round.

The Ladies Open was won by Babirye Martha, with a gross score of 242, beating Irene Nakalembe by one stroke. Angel Eaton from Tanzania finished third with a score of 245, while Hawa Wanyeche from Tanzania was fourth with 251. Louisa Gitau from Kenya finished in sixth place with a gross score of 255.
