Bojan Krkic, the former Barcelona forward once hailed as the next Lionel Messi, has spent 15 years navigating professional football across seven nations, now playing in Japan with former teammate Andres Iniesta.
The Spanish striker, who became Barcelona's youngest La Liga debutant at 17 in 2007, described his career as a series of formative experiences. 'All the situations, all the experiences... everything can be better and worse,' he told AFP, reflecting on his journey since leaving Camp Nou in 2011.
Krkic's career included stints in Italy, Holland, England, Germany, and Canada before joining Vissel Kobe in 2022. He credited his time in England with Stoke City (2013-2016) as the pinnacle of his playing career, noting the Premier League's unique atmosphere. 'You can smell the history and respect for the sport,' he said.
Now alongside Iniesta, who turned 38 this month, Krkic praised the Spanish legend's potential beyond playing. 'He can be a coach, sports director, or involved in business,' Krkic said, emphasizing Iniesta's influence on football values.
Looking ahead, Krkic is preparing for life after football. He began a sport management course during the pandemic, favoring administrative roles over coaching. 'The most important thing when you sign a player is that you sign a human,' he explained, highlighting his focus on player development.
Despite his global journey, Krkic remains proud of his Barcelona legacy, where he scored 41 goals in 163 appearances. His career trajectory, from teenage prodigy to seasoned international professional, underscores the unpredictable nature of football careers.
