On 5th September 2019, The Standard published an article highlighting the benefits of combining grey and yellow in interior design. According to the article, grey is a versatile colour that works well on various surfaces, including ceilings, walls, floors, furniture, upholstery, and accessories. It provides a neutral background that can be paired with other colours to create a unique look.

For a lighter feel, a light grey can be paired with white or soft white or cream colour for a minimalist clean look. Yellow accents and accessories can add energy to the calmness that grey provides, creating a vibrant and lively atmosphere.

When using darker shades of grey, such as charcoal grey, bolder shades of yellow can be used to punctuate the greys and add a pop of colour. This combination brings in some sunshine into the room and lifts the ambience, adding some happiness.

For mid-grey walls, mid-blue or mid-green furniture can be used as a second colour, with the saturation weights closely matched. Yellow accessories can then be added as a third accent colour on items such as cushions, a lamp shade, a painting, or a mirror or picture frame.

Soft yellows go well with soft greys, making them a great combination for a teen's bedroom. The colours are fun, relaxing, and inviting, and look good in any room.
