Kenya's Kibra constituency was left reeling after the death of its MP, Ken Okoth, in August 2019. But a recent DNA test has shed new light on the circumstances surrounding his passing.
According to the test results, there was a 99.9% chance that Okoth was the biological father of Ann Thumbi Muthoni's five-year-old son.
The DNA test was conducted on a sample taken from Okoth's body before it was cremated on August 3, 2019, in a private ceremony.
Before the cremation, Thumbi had filed a court case to stop the burial, citing that her son had been excluded from the funeral plans by Okoth's family.
Thumbi had alleged that her son was being unfairly treated by Okoth's family and that she had been denied access to him during the funeral preparations.
