Published on September 5, 2019, Nairobi News reported that a DNA test had confirmed the paternity of the late Kibra MP Ken Okoth's son.
The test results showed a 99.99% probability that the minor was the son of Mr. Okoth.
Mr. Okoth had passed away in July after a long battle with colorectal cancer.
During his funeral service, Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko caused a stir when he announced that Mr. Okoth had fathered a son with Ms. Thumbi, claiming that Mr. Okoth's wife, Monica, was trying to exclude the minor from burial plans.
Ms. Thumbi had moved to court on August 1, 2019, to have her son recognized before his father was cremated, and the court had stopped the cremation to allow for a DNA test.
The test was conducted after the family agreed to resolve the matter through DNA analysis, with each party presenting their own pathologist.
