On September 5, 2019, a daring heist took place in Nairobi West, where thieves disguised as police officers stole Sh72 million from Standard Chartered Bank.

According to police sources, the thieves targeted G4S employees who were transporting cash in a van. The employees had collected money from the bank's headquarters on Witu Road and were taking it to the Nairobi West branch.

However, the thieves, who were posing as cash-in-transit officers, demanded part of the money from the G4S personnel. They then made their way to the bank's ATM and demanded the passwords, allowing them to withdraw more cash.

It is reported that the thieves made away with 13 bags loaded with the Sh72 million.
