On September 5, 2019, County Commissioner Henry Wafula announced the dismissal of two chiefs from Baringo County for sabotaging government programs.

Wafula stated that the government will not hesitate to sack officers who are grossly inept or those out to frustrate its policies.

One chief from Tiaty constituency was arrested for abetting cattle rustling, while another from Salabani area of Marigat Sub County was suspended for teaming up with an area MCA to incite residents of Kambi Samaki to boycott the national population and housing census.

Wafula directed chiefs and their assistants to mobilize residents who have lost their identity cards and youth who have attained the age of 18 years to register for the Rapid Result Initiative.

The registration drive, which will run up to October 4, aims to register about 26,420 eligible people in the seven sub-counties of Baringo County.
