On September 5, 2019, Nakuru Woman Representative Liz Chelule issued cheques worth Ksh 15 million to 80 women groups from Nakuru County as part of the National Government affirmative action fund.
The funds will be used as capital for agribusiness concepts in a bid to shore up rural economies.
Chelule said the initiative is part of the Government's efforts to enable high potential but under-leveraged women and youth create jobs and wealth while improving their livelihoods.
She commended women, people with disability, and youth groups for their prudent business concepts that have demonstrated an impressive return on investment.
Chelule cautioned residents against politicizing the kitty, maintaining that her office is impartial and the funds will be awarded in accordance with the law and on merit basis.
