On the first anniversary of Sharon Otieno's brutal murder, her family gathered at their home in Magare, Homa Bay, to remember the 26-year-old student and demand justice.

Sharon's family expressed disappointment that politicians who promised to support them after her death had abandoned them. Some had pledged to pay school fees for her three children, but none had followed through.

During the event, Sharon's mother, Melida Auma, said she had forgiven her daughter's killers but insisted that they must face justice. 'The event today was simply to call for justice for Sharon,' she said.

Sharon was murdered while seven months pregnant, and her case is ongoing. Migori Governor Okoth Obado, Michael Oyamo, and Caspal Obiero are among those charged with her murder, with Obado released on bail.
