DP Ruto's Presidential Ambitions in Jeopardy, Says Nyeri Town MP

Published on September 5, 2019

Nyeri Town MP Ngunjiri Wambugu has accused Deputy President William Ruto of using force to gain the presidency in 2022.

According to Wambugu, Ruto's strategy is to seek the support of President Uhuru Kenyatta in order to secure votes from the Mt. Kenya region.

Speaking in an interview with KTN, Wambugu said, "Ruto will not get any votes from the central region unless he talks to the leaders of the region."

He added that Ruto has been showing disrespect to President Kenyatta by campaigning in the Mt. Kenya region without his permission.

Wambugu also stated that Ruto will lose his position as Deputy President after the 2022 elections and will become the leader of the opposition.

"Ruto will be the leader of the opposition in 2022," he said.

Wambugu further stated that they have formed a Mt. Kenya bloc that will oppose Ruto's presidential ambitions in 2022.

"We have agreed to reject the politics of 2022 because they will undermine our development efforts," he said.

Wambugu is one of the leaders of the Kieleweke faction that supports Ruto's presidential ambitions in 2022.
