Published on September 5, 2019, Harambee Stars are set to receive a boost ahead of their international friendly against Uganda Cranes on Sunday at the Moi International Sports Center in Kasarani. China-based winger Ayub Timbe is expected to join the team in camp on Thursday morning.

Timbe, who plays for Beijing Renhe, arrived in the country on Wednesday afternoon and will hold his first training session with the team on Thursday morning. He joins eight other foreign-based players already in camp, including Eric Johanna from Sweden, Michael Olunga from Japan, and Francis Kahata from Tanzania.

Others in camp are Faruk Shikhalo from Tanzania, Eric Ouma from Sweden, Jesse Were from Zambia, Patrick Matasi from Ethiopia, and Cliff Nyakeya from Egypt. Anthony Akumu and David Owino from Zambia, as well as Christopher Mbamba from Sweden, were not called up to the team.

Team captain Victor Wanyama, who has been at the centre of transfer rumours, requested to be omitted from the squad. Left-back Aboud Omar has not been active since the Africa Cup of Nations and also requested to be excused from the Sunday friendly. Youngster Joseph Okumu recently completed a move to Swedish top-tier side IF Elfsborg and is working to secure paperwork, but will not be part of the Harambee Stars squad.

Belgium-based Johanna Omolo is nursing an injury and will miss the friendly as well. Uganda, meanwhile, were due to arrive in the country on Thursday morning ahead of the Sunday friendly match.
