Nakuru Town West MP Samuel Arama has declared his readiness to face any political opponent in the upcoming August General Elections, emphasizing his accomplishments and regional backing.
Speaking during a London gathering with supporters, Arama stated that regardless of the political party, any challenger would encounter a formidable campaign. 'I understand UDA nominations are set for Tuesday in my constituency. The winner must prepare for a tough battle, as defending my seat won't be easy,' he said, highlighting his record of service.
The legislator reiterated that Nakuru County remains aligned with the Azimio la Umoja coalition, led by President Uhuru Kenyatta and former Prime Minister Raila Odinga, countering claims of UDA dominance. He predicted a competitive presidential race between Odinga's Azimio and Kenya Kwanza's William Ruto, dismissing rumors of Ruto's overwhelming support.
Arama, who first won election in 2013 as an ODM candidate and later re-elected under the Jubilee Party in 2017, expressed confidence in securing victory through his party. His tenure has seen infrastructure and education improvements, including expanded bursary programs that boosted student performance in national exams.
The political landscape shifted recently when Nakuru Governor Lee Kinyanjui defected from Ubuntu to Jubilee, aligning with Azimio ahead of the elections.
