Published on September 5, 2019, the Driftwood tournament at Mombasa Sports Club marks the final leg of the National Sevens Circuit.
Clubs like KCB, Mwamba, and Nakuru RFC have a realistic chance of clinching the overall title, but other teams' players still have a chance to prove themselves worthy of a spot in the national Sevens team, Shujaa.
Shujaa will represent Kenya in the 2019-20 season, and while players who featured in previous seasons have an advantage, uncapped individuals must endear themselves to selectors ahead of the Safari Sevens in October and the Africa Sevens in November in Johannesburg, South Africa.
The Africa Sevens is a qualifying event for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.
With KCB's Johnstone Olindi and Vincent Onyala impressing in their debut campaign last season, it's expected that more youngsters who have performed well in the National Sevens Circuit will join the Kenya Sevens setup.
As the top-seeded team in pool A at the Driftwood leg, KCB will face Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology, Kenya Harlequin, and Administration Police, who have been invited.
