On August 24, relatives of Stephen Obura reported him missing, prompting a search by the police and local residents.

According to Nyando Police Boss Leonard Matete, area chief Nick Opondo and police officers combed the village after receiving information that Obura had been involved in a fight with a man who is an ex-convict.

Matete said police raided the suspect's home, where they found a foul smell leading to an abandoned hole within the compound.

However, the suspect spotted police at his home and is believed to be on the run.

Police recovered body parts from the hole, which were identified as those of Obura.

Local residents claim the suspect is a jailbird who had a fight with Obura before his death.
