Michael Mobisa, 22, had a humble beginning as a butcher assistant. However, he soon realized that the daily wages were inconsistent and unsustainable for financial stability. With a saving of Sh800, he invested in a smokies business, which has been a profitable venture for over a year.

Working as a smokie vendor comes with its own set of challenges. Mobisa spends most of his day on foot, pulling a trolley in search of customers. He faces difficulties in varying weather conditions, particularly when it rains, and has to deal with potential customers who refuse to buy smokies due to concerns about ingredients.

Despite these challenges, Mobisa remains optimistic about his business. He believes that taking anything in moderation is the wise thing and that his business is not a reason for health scares. A good day can see him making up to Sh800, with the least being Sh500 on a slow day.

As a smokie vendor, Mobisa faces competition and harassment from county council officials. However, he remains committed to his business and is determined to make it a success.
