The meeting aimed to strengthen bilateral ties between Kenya and China, with a focus on infrastructure projects that have been undertaken with Chinese partnership.
President Kenyatta emphasized that Kenya's cooperation with China has enabled the country to make significant strides in development, opening up opportunities for more trade and investment in the region.
He noted that infrastructure projects, such as the railway, have helped connect the region, attract investment, and create more jobs.
President Kenyatta also expressed his desire to see more Kenyan products, particularly tea and coffee, on Chinese shelves, following the recent access granted to Kenyan avocados in the Chinese market.
Mr. Yang Jiechi, who delivered a special message from President Xi Jinping to President Kenyatta, assured that China is committed to continuing its partnership with Kenya through the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) and the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC).
He highlighted the importance of BRI and FOCAC-aligned infrastructure projects in fostering intra-Africa commerce and inter-regional trade between Africa and Asia.
