Published on September 4, 2019, media personality Ciku Muiruri has ignited a heated debate with her advice on how women should handle workplace sexual harassment.

According to Muiruri, women should never say no to their harassers, but instead, 'quote high' to avoid damaging their ego.

She made these remarks in a statement where she said, 'Never say no, just quote high… He will never afford you. And if he does, take his money and run for the hills. Who says you have to sleep with him?'

Reactions to Muiruri's advice have been mixed, with some people defending her stance while others have condemned it as 'horrible advice' and 'high-end prostitution.'

Some of the reactions include:

  • Richard Njuguna Njoroge, who said, 'Very good. Those of us in power don’t take rejection very well. In fact, we don’t forget and funny enough our paths tend to cross again.'
  • Sam Gathemia, who described Muiruri's advice as 'high-end prostitution.'
  • Emilly Wa Kinyua, who said, 'Ciku Muiruri this is misleading- a no is a no from the beginning,to hell with his ego.'
  • Patrick Maina, who disagreed with Muiruri's advice, saying, 'Kamanga Ciku Muiruri I disagree,I am an employer and this does not happen in my work place or my NGO,its policies placed in and effected that help, by asking one to quote higher, what if that higher is provided? No is a No better be fired than face this.'
