On September 4, 2019, a disturbing incident shook the residents of Bomet County when a one-month-old infant was found hanged by the river bank in Nyongores River.

The infant's body was discovered with a rope tied to its neck, floating on the river bank.

Area Chief Richard Kirui condemned the act, terming it heinous and calling on area residents to help apprehend the perpetrator.

Chief Kirui suggested that the perpetrator might be one of the teenagers who abandoned parental responsibility after giving birth.

Bomet Central Police Commander Musa Omar confirmed that the body had been moved to the Longisa Referral hospital morgue for further investigation.
