September 4, 2019
Kenyan citizens have spoken out about their terrifying encounters with individuals who have spiked their drinks in clubs, leading to financial losses and physical harm.
One victim, who wishes to remain anonymous, recounted how he visited a Safcom store to renew his phone line but realized he had no identification. He then rushed to Equity Bank, only to find that his ATM card was missing, leaving him with a balance of 230 shillings.
After reporting the incident to the police, the victim claimed that nothing was done to rectify the situation. He also alleged that the investigating officer was uncooperative and that the club management refused to provide CCTV footage.
Another victim, who also wishes to remain anonymous, shared a similar experience. He had visited a club along Mirema Road and had been drinking with a woman. He awoke the next day to find that his phone and cash were missing, but he still had his wallet.
A third victim, Jane, claimed that she had been drugged at a club in Hurlingham. She woke up days later, feeling confused and hazy, and experienced headaches and confusion for a week.
These incidents highlight the need for increased security measures in clubs and the importance of being vigilant when socializing.
