On September 3, 2019, a devastating family tragedy unfolded in Elkmont, Alabama, where a 14-year-old boy shot and killed all five members of his family.

According to local law enforcement, the boy called the police and confessed to the crime, stating that he had used a 9mm handgun to carry out the shootings.

Three of the victims were found dead at the scene, while the other two died later after being airlifted to a regional hospital.

The Limestone County sheriff confirmed the boy's confession on Twitter, stating that he was assisting investigators in locating the weapon.

The motive behind the murders remains unclear, and the boy's identity has not been released.

Gun violence is a pressing issue in the United States, with over 36,000 deaths occurring annually, according to statistics compiled by the Giffords Law Center.
