ANC leader Musalia Mudavadi has been advised to form alliances with other political leaders to win the 2022 presidential election.
Senator Cleophas Malala, a key ally of Mudavadi, has urged him to seek the support of Raila Odinga, the leader of the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM), to increase his chances of winning the election.
Malala stated that the Luhya community would support Mudavadi, but that would not be enough to win the election. He emphasized the need for Mudavadi to form alliances with other communities, including the Luo community, to increase his chances of winning.
Malala also warned that forming an alliance with William Ruto, the deputy president, would be difficult and would not guarantee Mudavadi's victory. He stated that Ruto's influence in the Western region, particularly in the Lake Region, would be a major challenge for Mudavadi.
On the other hand, Barrack Muluka, the secretary-general of ANC, has hinted that the party might form an alliance with Ruto's party, citing their shared goal of protecting the constitution.
"As our methods may converge in defending the constitution, it's the same," Muluka stated in an interview with KTN on August 29, 2019.
