Google search trends for August 2019 revealed that the English Premier League and betting were the most searched topics in Kenya, with the EPL season already in its fourth week.
Major betting firms had their licenses suspended following a directive from Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang'i on July 1, 2019, but this did not deter Kenyans from searching for popular betting sites such as Bet 254, 22 Bet, Shabiki Power 17, and Odi Bet.
John De'Mathew, the late Benga maestro, came in third after his demise on August 18 in a road accident along the Thika Superhighway.
Contortionist Wendy Waeni, who made headlines after revealing that her manager, Joe Mwangi, had been extorting her, was the fourth most searched item.
