On September 3, 2019, a Kenyan court sentenced talent manager Joe Mwangi to 5 days in jail following his arrest earlier that day.

The Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) had sought to detain Mwangi for 7 days to allow for investigations into allegations that he had threatened Wendy Waeni, his former client.

According to reports, members of the public assisted DCI operatives in tracking down Mwangi's whereabouts, leading to his arrest.

It is alleged that Mwangi's phones were switched off shortly after a warrant for his arrest was issued.

DCI stated, 'Mr Joseph Mwangi Nduta alias Joe is in our custody. He will be charged appropriately once necessary police process is complete. We thank everyone that shared information on his whereabouts.'

Joe Mwangi faces charges of forging a letter from the Ministry of Interior, purporting it to be from the Cabinet Secretary.

Earlier in August, Wendy Waeni accused Mwangi of refusing to give her access to her social media accounts and pocketing funds meant for her international performances.
