Published on September 3, 2019, a local entrepreneur in Nairobi has been making waves with his innovative peanut bread.
Mwangi Gakinya, a Murang'a town native, stumbled upon the idea of baking peanut bread three years ago in his home kitchen.
With a passion for value addition and a desire to improve consumer products, Gakinya settled on bread as the perfect canvas for his creativity.
He mixed peanuts with unrefined wheat flour to create whole wheat bread, a staple for diabetics, and added that 'peanuts have blood-cleaning agents and help in improving fertility, that's why it's healthy for men.'
His customers in Nairobi, who receive supplies twice a week, are thrilled with the 'magic bread.'
Not only does it taste great, but it also offers numerous health benefits, including boosting memory, enhancing digestion, and lowering the risks of weight gain.
With a production capacity of 300 loaves per day, Nutmasters, Gakinya's company, retails the bread in packs of 200 and 400 grammes for Sh30 and Sh50 respectively.
