September 3, 2019, will be a day that Saumu Mbuvi will never forget. It was the day she decided to open up about the violent relationship she was in with her baby daddy, Ben Gatu.
Speaking to Massawe, Saumu revealed that she was only 21 years old when she started dating Ben Gatu, and she was warned against rushing into marriage. However, she thought she knew better and ended up in a toxic relationship.
'When I started dating Ben Gatu, I was young and naive. I ran for the marriage life right after graduation. I was only 21. I was warned against running for that married life but I thought I knew better,' Saumu said.
She confessed that there was violence in their relationship, and she first shared it with her friends before running to her father, Sonko, for forgiveness. Saumu's father is known for being a man of action, and many would expect him to have taken serious action against Ben Gatu.
However, Saumu revealed that her father instead sat her down and asked her what her plan was after what she went through, and what she would do now that she was going to be a mother.
They dated for 9 months before Saumu got pregnant with her firstborn. She has since advised single mothers to find a father figure for their child, as there is something a child will be missing, even if the mother is not with the baby daddy.
At this point, Lamu Senator Anwar Loitiptipa is playing a major role as a father figure in her daughter's life.
