Published on September 3, 2019, a former manager of child star contortionist Wendy Waeni, Joseph Mwangi, has been detained for five days to allow police to investigate allegations of forgery.

Senior Principal Magistrate Bernard Ochoi ruled that the detention period was valid, despite police seeking to hold Mwangi for seven days.

According to the magistrate, Mwangi went into hiding to avoid being arrested as soon as he learned the police were looking for him.

Police are investigating a complaint by Wendy Waeni's mother, Magdalene Syombua, that Mwangi allegedly forged a letter purporting to be from Interior CS Fred Matiang'i and sent it via email to her.
