On September 2, 2019, Senator Mithika Linturi's life took a devastating turn with the loss of his father.

Lawyer Danstan Omari, representing Marianne Kitany in the divorce case, announced that they would not be proceeding with the case due to the family's grief.

Omari stated that Marianne was in mourning and had traveled to Meru to participate in the burial programs.

"We are not in a position to continue with the divorce proceedings after facing such a massive death blow," Omari said, adding that Marianne had instructed him to pass her condolences to Linturi and the Ugembe community.

However, Linturi's lawyer, Muthomi Thiankolu, expressed disappointment that Kitany was using the family's tragedy as a platform to delay the case.

Thiankolu argued that life had become impossible for Linturi and that the court should proceed with the case despite the family's loss.

"Marriane should not cry louder than the bereaved," Thiankolu said, adding that Linturi's father had been in a weak state of mind due to the family's circumstances.
