On Tuesday, the Public Service Commission (PSC) launched the Public Service Internship Programme (PSIP), a new initiative aimed at providing hands-on experience to young people and enhancing their employability.
According to PSC chairperson Stephen Kirogo, the programme was created this year with the support of the National Assembly, which allocated 1 billion shillings to roll out the programme during the current financial year.
As part of the programme, interviews for over 8000 shortlisted candidates will be conducted at various centres across the country until September 11.
The exercise, which started on Tuesday, will be conducted throughout the country, with PSC teams led by commissioners interviewing candidates at Rift Valley Institute of Science and Technology in Nakuru county.
Speaking on the launch of the programme, PSC Deputy Director of Communications Browne Kutswa said the programme is designed to provide hands-on experience to build upon skills learned in class and enhance youth development and employability.
